4 Fitness Myths Busted What’s True and What’s Not

Have you been working out but can’t seem to lose weight? Well, there must be something that you might be doing wrong. We’re here to talk about some common mistakes  from fitness myths women make when it comes to working out!

  1. Crunches will help you get a flatter belly

This is not true. Not all abs exercises are bound to make your abs flat. Your abs are hidden behind a layer of fat and simple crunches on their own are not effective enough to burn that fat and bring your abs to the surface.

High-intensity training, dieting, and cardio is something that will help you burn overall fat. So it is important to focus on your overall body rather than one spot if you want to lose weight.

  1. Lifting weights will give you manly physique

This is only true under the condition if you’ve been juicing up on steroids and have been lifting heavy weights for some 10 years. Women are physically completely different from men. Our muscle structure is different and our testosterone levels are much lower as compared to men.

While men will gain muscles from lifting weight, women will tend to burn the fat around their muscles from lifting weight and will help tone the muscle in that area. Moreover, it is more difficult for women to gain muscle than it is to lose weight. So don’t worry about altering your physique.

  1. You need an hour’s worth of workout every day

Working our every day and exerting beyond your limits is only going to leave you exhausted and weak. There’s only as much of elbow grease you can burn in one workout session.

As long as you are consistent and active with your workouts then that’s all you need to be losing weight. Creating a balance Is more important than overexerting. Some day doing a 10-minute run will give you equally well results of lifting weights for an hour if you’re keeping your diet in check.

  1. Machines are better than free weights

If you’re an amateur and just giving the whole gym thing a try then the machines might be your best friend because they make your workout so much easier. But in the longer run, you may be missing out on the amazing benefits of the free weights.

You are more likely to get a muscle tear or injuries if you end up in the wrong posture on the machines which can certain times lead to more severe injuries. If you are to use a gym machine, ask the gym trainers for the right way to use them or else just skip on them and learn how to use free weights which give you so many more options of workouts.
